Privacy Policy

Overview

Symbols ("the App") is developed and maintained by Alexandr Nadtoka ("I", "me", "my"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App and the services built into it collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers the App itself, the Symbols keyboard and the Symbols widgets.

In short: the App has no accounts and I do not receive any personal data from you. Your favourites, history and settings stay on your device. The App uses a few third-party services to show ads, handle purchases and report crashes. Those services receive limited technical data, as described below.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following stays on your device and is never sent to me or to any third party:

• Your Favourites and History (recently copied or inserted characters)
• Your display settings (grouping, filters) and copy feedback settings (sound, haptics)
• Your search queries

Favourites and History are kept in an App Group container on your device so the Symbols keyboard and widgets can show them. This data is removed when you delete the App.

Symbols Keyboard

The Symbols keyboard does not record, store or transmit anything you type. It only inserts the characters you tap. The keyboard does not make any network requests.

If you turn on Allow Full Access, the keyboard uses it only to read your Favourites and History from the App Group container on your device, and to add characters you insert to your History. Full Access is optional. Without it, the keyboard still works but cannot show your Favourites and Recents.

Clipboard

When you copy a character or its code, the App writes it to the system clipboard. The App never reads your clipboard.

Third-Party Services

The App includes the following third-party services, which process data under their own privacy policies:

• Google AdMob shows ads to users without Symbols Pro. AdMob may collect device information, IP address, approximate location derived from it, and ad interaction data to serve ads, measure them and prevent fraud. The App does not ask for permission to track you, so AdMob cannot access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). How Google uses data from apps.
• Google User Messaging Platform asks for your consent to personalised ads where the law requires it (for example, in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) and stores your choice.
• Firebase Analytics (Google) collects anonymous usage data, such as app opens, session length, device model, iOS version and country, to help me understand how the App is used. Firebase Privacy.
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google) collects crash reports, including the device model, iOS version and the state of the App when it crashed, so I can fix bugs.
• RevenueCat processes purchases of Symbols Pro. It receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase history and basic device information. Payments are handled by Apple, and I never see your payment details. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

None of this data is linked to your name, email address or Apple Account by me.

Your Choices

• Ad consent: change your ad consent at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy Settings (shown where consent is required).
• No ads: Symbols Pro removes ads, and with them the AdMob data collection.
• Keyboard Full Access: turn it off in iOS Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Symbols.
• History: clear it at any time in the App's History screen.
• Everything local: deleting the App removes all data stored on your device.

Data Retention

I do not operate servers that store your data. Data processed by the third-party services above is kept according to their own retention policies.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised date.
